I left Calgary on April on 27th, 2017 and plan to arrive in Barrie on April 30, a day before my car insurance is scheduled to end. All responsibilities, expenses, and obligations are now absent or on hold until some point in the future — I do what I want, without the interruption from the meddling hands of life. After years of romanticizing about truly testing myself, I am now fully committed to doing this walking odyssey and will give everything I have to see this to the end.
This was the first time I have driven from Alberta to Ontario, and was quite interested in seeing the sudden transition from the prairie grassland of eastern Manitoba to the boreal forest and Canadian Shield of northwestern Ontario. Moreover, it was an opportunity to scout out some of the areas I will be walking into this summer.
